We had 2 nights here last week. Easy to park. Delightfully decorated. Hosts Paul and Susan excellent & friendly. Ace breakfast, shower & comfortable, snug giant bed!

The location is great, the rooms are lovely, and the hosts are very welcoming. We really enjoyed the breakfast and were delighted to find accommodation that caters so explicitly to gluten-free needs.

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Barony House for 10 nights during our recent visit to Edinburgh. Situated about a mile from the Old City and the Royal Mile, Barony House is an oasis of peace and calm beauty. Paul and Susan are warm and welcoming hosts, so friendly and thoughtful that you end up feeling as if you are staying with friends rather than at a boutique guest house. The guest rooms and public spaces are lovely and well maintained with gorgeous decorative touches provided by Susan, who is quite a talented artist. She is also a superb chef, dishing up delicious breakfast every morning - standouts for us included the savory breakfast crepe, made-to-order omelet, the big bowl of porridge (and it is big!), the wee cups of yogurt and fruit, and the fresh pastries. Paul greets guests every morning with a cheerful smile and lively conversation - he is always ready with recommendations for an historic site visit or a local restaurant, and in those rare instances where guests' plans go a bit sideways, he is responsive and helpful. He and Susan have such a care for their guests and it really shows. We loved every moment of our stay at this small, gorgeous, locally owned guest house; their five-star rating is well deserved.
As a side note to anyone reading - listen to Paul when he tells you to visit Craigmillar Castle, you won't regret it!
I stayed here on the last night of my trip, and wish I would have stayed longer. From the moment I walked in, there was a warm and charming feeling. The entire house, and the room was stunning. The bed was so comfortable, perfect way to end a busy trip.
I have always been a huge advocate for supporting local businesses, and would not want to stay any other place when visiting Edinburgh. Paul & Susan are exceptional host, and their love and passion for their work shows. Paul is very pleasant and makes an effort to get to know each guest. The breakfast was also fantastic.

Paul and Susan’s place in Edinburgh is a real treat - absolutely the most beautiful and well-appointed Guest House we’ve stayed in! Location is perfect for exploring the city but also getting out to the rest of Scotland easily (and lovely quiet room with a beautiful garden view). The breakfast is FANTASTIC. Think options, including full Scottish breakfast, homemade bread, yoghurt with homemade granola / toasted nuts, and fab strong coffee too. The place feels like a real home, and Paul and Susan were incredibly welcoming, and flexible with our timings. We would recommend to anyone!
